RedTail Workstation Modules:
RedTail POS and all integrated RedTail modules current 32 bit applications. Release 8.0.0.0 will be the final release on the 32-bit architecture. Only 64-bit applications will follow. All Windows 7 32bit PCs must be retired from operation. There is no support provided for any Windows 7 stations as Microsoft has announced end of life for the product.
32-bit applications can only access 4GB of a computer's memory. 64-bit application can access memory above 4GB vastly improving performance.
32bit vs 64bit
A 32-bit system has a limit of 32 bit Windows 3.2 GB of RAM. The limit in its addressable space doesn't allow you to use the entire physical memory space of 4GB. A 64-bit system enables its users to store up to 17 Billion GB of RAM.
